e2Environmental provided an infrastructure assessment for a 30-lot subdivision on the southwest of Methven. Our role also included design of the stormwater solution and the stormwater discharge consent application.
This site is located over gravels with good soakage potential but in a location where there is no council owned stormwater management.
In order to prevent discharge onto neighbouring land, the stormwater management area had to be oversized to ensure that all storms up to the 1% AEP event (100 year return period including the effects of climate change) were managed on site and that post development any discharges were less than pre-development. e2Environmental used a 1D stormwater model to assess the critical storm durations and size basins within this site. These designs were accepted by the Ashburton District Council for engineering approval and used as a basis for the Environment Canterbury application to approve discharge of stormwater to land.
e2Environmental provided construction design support during the construction to confirm soakage assumptions and the design of environmental management plans to mitigate potential sediment discharges during construction.
